image

First up is Doug Matthes new F1 car.

image

This is Doug's first F1 using the wider front axle/suspension. Nice chassis Doug!

image

Doug's design is obviously influenced by Bryan Warmack's latest F1 with some nice features by Doug.

image

Doug's new F1 is not too shabby. It is very fast as well. Again, Warmack design influences others, but variations abound.

image

Front axle detail on Doug's chassis

image

Fixed rear portion of side rail/pans

image

Rear portion of chassis extends beyond rear axle.

image

Mike Steube's new F1 car.

image

This is a totally new design by Mike.

image

Mike Steube's new F1 chassis design is quite a departure for Mike, but it is an absolute jet!

image

Note how the front axle upright/braces are angled.

image

Side pans are soldered in front, with flex extending towards the rear.

image

.063" brass side pans. Note the tape holding the rear portion of the pans, thus reducing flex movement.

image

Mike's new F1 incorporates a lot of new ideas which are not similar to any other previous Steube design. That's what D3 scratchbuilding is all about, creativity!

image

Sano Dave Fielder's car.

image

This is one long wheelbase F1.

image

It's nice to have Dave race with the locals at BPR. His Midwest/Eastern style F1 is very interesting as well.

image

Dave proves that there is no one best way to go fast!

image

Dave's design/workmanship is outstanding as well.

Mike Steube's 3rd place car

image

Mike resurrected this older Steube chassis.

image

Mike won a couple of Can Am races on the King track with this chassis about a year ago.

image

The older chassis was available in Mike's yard sale at the Slotcar Convention.

image

No takers. So Mike decided to race it one more time.

image

This older chassis proved to be fast enough to make the podium again!
