Can Am D3 race on the Hillclimb
Raceway owner Steve Foster was a great host and made our first D3 race at Foster's a lot of fun. All the SoCal D3 racers had a great time, thanks Steve!

these delicious cupcakes. Both were perfect to go along with our morning practice session on the Paperclip and Hillclimb tracks.
Foster's hillclimb track. Similar to the Hillclimb which Buena Park Raceway had last year.
Foster's Raceway has 3 tracks.
View towards the front parts counter. Foster's is the home to "Toytech" slotcar bodies.

On the other side of the raceway is the Paperclip track.

The Paperclip. Our SoCal racers enjoyed racing on this track. We all agreed it's a fun track to race on!
A view from the mezzanine area.
In the back of the raceway above the tracks is the slotcar museum.
Quite a fancy custom made sitting area!
Steve Foster's slotcar collection is very impressive.
Steve has slot cars which cover the early days of commercial slotcar racing to present day.
A wide variety of slotcars makes this collection very interesting.
Boxed slotcars are also part of the collection.
Here's an interesting display. It's a copy of the original slotcar patent - circa 1938
Is this what started it all?
Or just another crazy invention!
Steve's collection is kept in very nice showcases.
Does this old gas pump bring back some memories for us oldtimers?
Another showcase full of very interesting items.
This sign brings back memories for the 60's pro racers. Kovacs provided custom painted bodies to the Legends back in the 60's.
Remember the Cox spur gears we started using when the anglewinders replaced the inlines?
Many kids in those days owned one of these body kits.
And lucky kids had one of these Cox Chapparals.
Other side of showcase displaying more collector's cars.
1/32 ready to run cars were available back in the 60's, but not as popular as today.
This display case has a variety of slotcars, controllers, and race sets.

The Paperclip track was a lot of fun to race on. The SoCal D3 racers are looking forward to running a D3 race on this track next time we visit Foster's.

A special guest enjoys watching Bryan Warmack drive his D3 Can Am car during practice on the Hillclimb track.
A 60's Legend visits with an old racing friend. Would you believe it's Terry Schmid! Terry and Bryan had a great day talking about the golden years of slotcar racing as well as catching up on the 40 years since. Terry is a long time resident of Santa Maria, but hasn't touched a slotcar controller in 40 years!
Although Terry did not race (even though Bryan tried to coax him to race), he did agree to take a few practice laps. It was a great sight to see Terry drive an inline slotcar for the first time in 40 years. Would you believe the magic is still there as Terry was jetting around the track after only a few practice laps.
