Bryan Warmack's winning car. Wow, it's a dual inline 4 wheel drive car!!!!

image

Bryan says that although this car is fast in the straights, it doesn't handle quite as well as the best single motor cars. It is still a very fast car!

image

This is Bryan's 3rd dual motor chassis. Each is a different version using dual motors. The Warmack chassis kit is the basis of this 4 wheel drive car.

image

Front and rear motor bracket is identical.

image

This dual motor version by Bryan is fast and handles very good for a 4 wheel drive car.

image

Dual motors allowed a higher gear ratio (10T vs. 9T pinion, same crown gear size as single motor car).

Rear view showing 10T GT-1 bevel pinion gear.

image

26T Parma crown gear (front and rear).

image

Keith Tanaka drove this Paul Sterrett loaner car to 3rd. Paul easily lead the race, but had a motor problem in the last heat.

image

Paul's chassis has a custom made motor bracket (by Paul) which positions the motor rearward.

image

64 pitch gears allow the motor mounting closer to the rear axle.

Sonic 64 pitch crown gear. GT-1 bevel pinion gear.

Cars line up for the Retro Pro race (2 sitouts).

SoCal D3 Retro Pro racers, L-R, Tore Anderson, Keith Tanaka, Bob Crane, Dennis Hill, Mike Boemker, Dale Yamashita, Kyle Matthes, Doug Matthes, Bryan Warmack, Paul Sterrett.

image

SoCal D3 Retro Pro race results. Congrats to Kyle Matthes on his win with Doug Matthes 2nd and Paul Sterrett 3rd. Paul finished first among "Big Dog" powered cars. Kyle and Doug used "X-12" powered cars.

SoCal D3 Retro Pro podium: L-R, Doug Matthes 2nd, Kyle Matthes 1st, Paul Sterrett 3rd

Retro Pro podium cars: L-R, Doug Matthes, Kyle Matthes, Paul Sterrett

image

Doug Matthes' 2nd place car.

image

Doug's "Allen Low" chassis proved to be fast as ever. Doug's X-12 powered car was very fast.

image

This is the same Retro Pro chassis (by Allen Low) which Doug has raced ever since Retro Pro started in SoCal.

image

The Allen Low chassis handles very well on the King track at BPR.

X-12 armature powers Doug's car.

Kyle Matthes' winning car.

image

Kyle's car is another "Allen Low" chassis. Allen's chassis was built for the initial Retro Pro race over a year ago.

image

image

image

image

Kyle's car was the fastest in the race by far. It's powered by a Pro Slot motor with X-12 armature.

image

image

image

Paul Sterrett's 3rd place car.

image

Paul finished first among "Big Dog" powered cars. Most of the cars in today's Retro Pro race were "X-12" powered.

image

Another new Sterrett chassis. This particular chassis works well on the King and Flat track at BPR.
