Oh, these old racers look familiar, who are they?

image

Hey, it's the Legends Race! (Thanks for the posters, Kathy Mitome, also known as Slotblogs' "Flygirl").

The 3rd time around.

image

The 3rd Annual Legends racers (with some wannabes) L-R, Keith Tanaka, Pete Zimmerman, Phil Nyland, Lee Hines, Terry Schmid, Tore (John) Anderson, Mill Conroy, Bryan Warmack, Philippe de Lespinay, John Cukras, Mike Steube, Roger Uusitalo, Eddie Shorer. Everyone in this photo (except for Phil Nyland, Mill Conroy and PdL) were original charter members of USRA back in Jan'68.

image

Two Icons of the 60's, John Cukras on the left and Mike Steube talking trash (not really). I wonder what Mike's pointing out to John. Hmmm, maybe he's saying to John "I don't remember a King track without bumps in the straight, maybe we go that way" (photo by Eddie Shorer)

image

Pete Zimmerman on the left with his typical look of disgust ("tracks a slime pit"). Lee Hines trying to drive with his left hand since his right is overworked from throwing hand launch gliders (just kidding!). (photo by Eddie Shorer)

image

Keith Tanaka with that look of "what am I doing in this race"! Pete still disgusted (that's normal for Pete!). (photo by Eddie Shorer)

image

Mill Conroy trying to get driving instructions from Howie Ursaner while Phil Nyland can't believe what he's hearing. (photo by Eddie Shorer)

image

The Legends Race results: Congrats to Mike Steube on his win with John Cukras not far behind and PdL in 3rd. Mill Conroy was 4th, Bryan Warmack 5th and Tore Anderson 6th. It was a very close "fun" race. We'll try harder next year to get more "Legends" (Team Russkit, Gold Dust Twins, etc. to participate).

image

3 Legends on the podium again: L-R, John Cukras 2nd, Mike Steube 1st, Phiiippe de Lespinay 3rd
